Gen 4:25 And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.
Gen 4:26 And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD.

Gen 4:25 And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.
Here Adam and Eve engage in marital affairs and Eve conceive's and gives birth to a son. This son is named Seth. Eve apparently realized that this particular son would be very important. It could be that she recognized that Abel was a Godly man, and Seth was going to be Godly in his stead. Could she have known that the seed of Seth would be the seed from which all the great people of the Bible would sprout? Could she have known that his would be the seed of good, the spark that would light the path to salvation through the teaching of the word of God? Luke 3:23 through 3:38 shows a lineage from God through Adam and Seth to Joseph, the Earthly Dad of Jesus. Although the earthly relationship between Joeseph and Jesus was not by blood, the importance of this lineage cannot be ignored. It demonstrates that God has a plan and that it would be through the lineage of Seth that God's will would be fulfilled. It would be only through the lineage of Seth that the human race would exist after the great flood.
Adam and Eve had other children as we will learn in Gen 5:4 And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters. Why do you think that Cain, Abel and Seth are the only children of Adam and Eve mentioned by name? Some think that it is because they were the first children born to Adam and Eve. I think I have established that this is not the case. The fact that Cain was afraid of being murdered tells us there were other people around. I believe the reason that these three children are mentioned is to:
1. Show us through the lineage of Cain, how a refusal to repent and get in a proper relationship with God leads to severe decline for not only ourselves but also for our descendants.
2. The second reason is to show what is possible through a proper relationship with God through the lineage of Seth. Imagine walking with God as we will soon learn that Enoch did. Imagine being the earthly Dad of Jesus. Imagine being on the Ark during the flood. These people were chosen because of their faith in God.

Gen 4:26 And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD.
Some people say that this verse tells us when man began to worship God. This is not factual. Abel was worshiping God when he gave his offering. We will need to examine the word qara to get the real meaning of this verse. The word call comes to us from the word qara which means: to call out to (that is, properly address by name, but used in a wide variety of applications): - bewray [self], that are bidden, call (for, forth, self, upon), cry (unto), (be) famous, guest, invite, mention, (give) name, preach, (make) proclaim (-ation), pronounce, publish, read, renowned, say. This definition tells me that this is the point where men began to preach the word of God. This implies that there were a number of people who were lost and did not worship God. It is through the lineage of Enos that faith moved from a family matter to a more public endeavor to teach the word of God to others, to invite them to seek a relationship with God.
